TalkTalk’s fibre broadband and TV bundle combines a few things we all need at the moment: fast, affordable internet, binge-worthy television channels, and the luxury of free 1-day home-delivery via Amazon Prime.
This deal comes with the Faster Fibre with TalkTalk TV plan, which costs £25.50 per month. The contract lasts for 18 months, while the Amazon Prime subscription lasts for a year. Head to TalkTalk to take advantage of this deal right now.
Existing Amazon Prime members who sign up for the bundle can also redeem a free year of service. Monthly subscribers can stop payment until the next year while annual subscribers who’ve already paid can get another year added onto their subscription at no additional cost.
The offer should be available to existing TalkTalk customers too if you’re at the end of your contract. The provider’s Fairer Broadband statement promises that when “existing loyal customers come to an end of their contract, we offer them better value or the same package available to new customers.”
The Faster Fibre broadband package promises average speeds of 38Mbps which is fast enough to allow streaming on multiple screens, social media use and video calls – though it’s probably not ideal for larger households with high demands, like 4K streaming from multiple rooms while gaming. For those demands, we’d recommend one of these ultra-fast services instead.
How will Covid-19 affect broadband installation?
Broadband installations have been delayed in the UK due to the coronavirus lockdown, but you should still be able to switch in most cases if you don’t need an engineer to enter your home (more on this below).
Nearly all broadband connections in the UK are maintained by Openreach, which announced it would prioritize the “repair and maintenance of connections that support critical national infrastructure, essential public services, vulnerable customers and those without service”.
Openreach also advised its engineers to avoid entering homes, but to continue outdoor work, stating: “A large amount of the work we do can be completed outside, meaning we can often upgrade people or fix problems without entering a customer’s property. So we’re advising [engineers] not to complete any work inside a property unless it would leave a vulnerable customer with no form of connection, and it’s not possible to provide one by any other means.”
Can I still switch my broadband provider during the lockdown?
Yes. Despite limitations on installation, you can still switch your broadband provider in most cases without support from an engineer. You should check if TalkTalk’s fibre connection is available in your area first, however.
If your current broadband provider operates on Openreach’s infrastructure you should be able to switch quite easily.
Customers on BT, Plusnet, NOW Broadband and Sky will not need to call an engineer to switch to TalkTalk. You simply need to plug in a new router.
