The Black Friday sales season is here! The best deals are often not on Amazon. The prices shown below are the best available now, though you may need to buy quickly as some deals will sell out.
Roku’s Black Friday deals are now even better, with the new Streambar joining the sales party at just £98.99 – an incredible price for a two-in-one media streamer and soundbar.
There’s now even more reason to supercharge your home entertainment setup, with discounts of up to 42% across the range reducing the entry price to just £17.98 – a tiny fee in exchange for access to more than 150,000 movies and TV shows available on-demand.
The dinky Roku Express has 40% off its usual £29.99 retail price, making it the cheapest media streamer on the block at £17.98. Meanwhile, Roku Premiere has 30% off at £27.99, and the mighty Roku Streaming Stick+ has 42% off at £34.99. The new Roku Streambar is reduced from £129.99 to just £99.99. All deals end at 23:59 on 1 December.
These are incredible prices for Roku – or any media streamers, for that matter.
Why we love Roku
Roku media streamers sit in the same camp as the Amazon Fire TV Stick, Google Chromecast and Apple TV. In essence they plug into a TV via its HDMI port, then offer up an intuitive user interface that simplifies streaming content from almost any on-demand or subscription TV, movie or music service. BBC News, ITV Hub, YouTube, Now TV, Disney+, Apple TV+, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Deezer, Spotify… Roku has it all.
Most useful for televisions without smart functionality, buying a Roku is going to be a lot cheaper than upgrading your TV. But even smart TVs can benefit from Roku, with its vast support for streaming channels and service-wide search function that makes unearthing must-see content a breeze.
You can control Roku using the bundled remote control, the free mobile app, or using your voice. By the end of this year it will be the only streaming platform to support Google Assistant, Alexa and Siri.
Which Roku should you buy?
Black Friday deals are available on Roku Express, Premiere, Streaming Stick+ and the new Soundbar. We’ve reviewed all four, and you can find links to that content below:
If you don’t have a TV that supports 4K HDR, buy the Roku Express. This streamer is differentiated from its siblings with full-HD (1080p) resolution at 60fps and an infra-red remote controller.
Step up to Roku Premiere if you want to benefit from 4K HDR streaming and a Bluetooth remote.
The Roku Streaming Stick+ is the top model in the line-up, with improved hardware providing the smoothest wireless and streaming experience. The supplied remote is also capable of controlling your TV, and the dongle design potentially easier to tuck out of sight, but otherwise Streaming Stick+ features match that of Premiere.
